Ferdinand is a vampire

Dress (worn as a top) is a gift from Brittney. Scarf (worn as a skirt): Vintage. Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell. Headband: DIY

Well hullo thar.
This is what I wore to veg out and watch Arrested Development on Friday Night (I know, I have quite the social life!) I think I was trying to go for a mix between an eccentric Dutch Housewife, Bjork, Beyond the Black Rainbow and Rodarte's last collection.
Rodarte really only inspired the skirt as unfortunately I couldn't get myself to make a scarf top or pull out some of my crazy sheer tops.
Oh and how could I forget, the chair! I found this chair in a room in my house and I immediately felt compelled to photograph it. It totally adds to the creepiness I was trying to convey with my physco dutch house wife thang goin' on.

I also saw Justice last week at Terminal 5 which has inspired some really obsecure outfits. Let me tell you. That was one show. I still can't believe it. It was so high school. I was in a moshpit and everything. I can't say I wore anything too remarkable as I was there to D.A.N.C.E (well, poorly at least!) It really was wonderful. My ears were completley flooded in sound. It was something out of a film. Here is a photo of what I was witnessing (except not really because this was at the boston show. I couldn't find any good new york pics)

Sorry for not really writing anything of real substance in this post. I'm too lazy to be jocular/creative. I HAVE NO REAL CONTRIBUTION TO SOCIETY OMG HAAHAHAA. Just kidding.

Next post I'm doing a blog about fashun and feminism. I know, way to be vague.

That's all folks!

Naturally Dapper

It's been quite a while since I've done an interview on this blog.
However, I'm back to doing 1 a month (I hope!)
This months interviewee is Meagan. Meagan writes the outrageously original Naturally Dapper. It's kind of like reading the contents of her awesome brain. From why Bella Swan should be more like Kathleen Hanna to Miu Miu shoes, Meagan proves herself a badass on a regular basis.

What should people know about feminists? What stereotypes annoy you the most? What do you feel is constantly under looked in feminism?

I think that the stereotype of being a feminist means you also have to be lesbian is kind of ridiculous. Just because you're straight doesn't mean you can't care about women's rights.People should know that feminists aren't sexist against men. All the guys in my class last year thought that I was a man-hating feminist, but then again, all the guys in my class last year were giant assholes and I called them out for it all the time. But I totally have friends that are guys, and it's stupid when people are like "Oh, you're a feminist? Does that mean you hate men?" Yeah, not really. It would be hypocritical for me to hate men and want equality of the sexes.

What type of music would you say is good to listen to when your angry?

Bikini Kill (duh), Cold War Kids, Jimi Hendrix.
What is your favorite thing about sheer clothing?

EVERYTHING.

How do you feel about ice cream sundays

Ice cream sundaes are quite special. Especially if they're smothered in chocolate.

Miu Miu or Alexander McQueen

Aghhhhhh YOU'RE KILLING ME okay fine Alexander McQueen. Miu Miu a very very close second.

Please Describe Your favorite movie in the form of a haiku

The Breakfast Club rules,
Molly Ringwald wears cute clothes,
Judd Nelson is hot. (I am a creative machine) (not)

Where would you say you get the most inspiration from to dress?

Summer/light/movies/shows/music.... pretty broad spectrum

How has the Suburbs shaped you as a blogger?

It's made me want to find beauty in ugly things. As much fun as it is to hate everything all the time, I've really found some beautiful little things in my suburb, mostly concerning amazing abandoned mansions and green lawns and trees and the sun and cult-ish schools.

What is your favorite thing about zine writing, I understand you've wrote 2 zines.

I don't knowwwww.... I guess I like to put all my ideas together into one place. Maybe I'll make another zine this summer when I have time.

How do people in your school respond to your style?

People at school are ridiculously nice. I was worried when I got to public high school that people would start being mean about individuality and shit (see: every single high school related piece of culture ever) but I get complements a lot. I was called "the girl who dresses weird" for a while at the beginning of the year, but I'm okay with that, because it's kind of true.

If you could be any type of sea creature what would you be?

A mermaid with green hair.

Take me on the Ferris Wheel

Hello kind folks!

This was my outfit, ironically on women's day (go estrogen!) I have ovaries of steal so I'm allowed to dress as feminine as I want. Even if the holiday essentially raises dearness for stereotypical gender roles in society (well at least that's what tumblr made it seem like) Who am I to say? I'm 15 so obviously I'm not a woman! I'm a girl person or a she child. I have no idea where I'm going with this to be perfectly honest.
Moving on!
I got the idea for this outfit from like 10 different things. Mainly the shoes. Which I was overwhelmingly excited to add to my shoe collection.
I was reading the times style supplement when I came across an editorial that was based around acid pastel colored hair turned super feminine. Also this video (god I love cults and i love this video.) On top of that I'm reading Lolita so I've obviously had the whole nymphet thing on my mind. Oh and duh, the movie The Atomic Cafe (duck and cover!)
Basically, this was one of the first outfits in a while I genuinely had inspiration behind. I wish I was near a scanner because I had the grooviest journal entry about this outfit.
I think next post I'll do the moodboard I used for this outfit.

And the winner is....

Catherine was the winner of my 100th post giveaway! Congrats girl!
I also decided to do a second place winner because I got more entries than I thought I would.

Kailey was 2nd place (she got butch 1 and a zine from my personal collection....DETAILZ.)
For the record the winners were completely random and chosen by random.org (or the website is lying and the site has a mind of it's own!) Congrats to the winners!
